Internet of Things-focussed technology company Telit Communications announced on Thursday that its ME910C1-NA module was the first Telit LTE Category M1 module to receive certification for operation on AT&T's LTE nationwide network in the US.

The AIM-traded firm said certification meant IoT integrators and providers could start taking advantage of the “reliability and coverage” of AT&T's LTE Cat M1 network for the IoT.

“This is an important milestone for Telit customers,” said the company’s interim CEO Yosi Fait.

“Our existing customers using 2G or 3G modules from Telit can now move to the newly certified Cat M1 module, go through the required AT&T testing with our help and start deploying Cat M1 products in a matter of weeks.”

Telit said its LTE Cat M1 module was based on Qualcomm LTE modem technology, and was the first of its type of technology to receive AT&T Cat M1 certification.

The module expedited migration of existing 2G and 3G connections, and shortened time-to-market for new IoT devices.
